Welcome Message from Mr. Parker, Head of Senior School

Dear Senior School Wolfpack Families:

Welcome back, Senior Wolfpack, and a warm welcome to our new students! We are excited to reconnect, forge new friendships, and explore transformative learning together. Please read the following Welcome Back Letters:
Facility Updates
Over the summer we completed a number of campus improvements, including a brand new Learning Commons in the Senior School. Similar to the Junior School, this area will be a dynamic gathering space for students to study, quietly collaborate, and access needed resources. The Learning Commons should be in action by mid September. Our thanks to our remarkable parent community for supporting this project through the PVG's Spring Fest in May.

Other facility improvements include a refresh to room 215, repairs to the modular stairs, new bag hooks for students, a “phone room” for staff, renovations to staff washrooms, and exterior painting of the building–with gratitude to our operations and maintenance teams for their hours of work and coordination this summer. Our floors are polished and sparkling, and we are ready to kick off Term 1!

Staffing Updates
I am happy to introduce the following staff members to the Senior School. Bobby Armstrong joins WPGA as science teacher, with Ross Peterson returning to the department after a 2-year leave. We welcome Michael Brough as the new Learning Commons Coordinator; Jaden Chong, Associate Teacher; Joshua Hatt, Drama Teacher and Production Coordinator; and Cindy Neufeglise-Ross, Personal Counsellor. Following Shannon Green’s retirement in June, we are pleased that Rhonda Hubbard is the new Director of Learning Support Services - The Study. Click here for bios on our new staff members.

Over the summer we said a bittersweet goodbye to Amanda Breslin, who had been at WPGA since 1996 as a founding teacher. Ms. Breslin was an instrumental member of our science and math departments and in shaping what became our vibrant Senior School. Deeply service-minded, Ms. Breslin was recently presented with a wonderful opportunity in her personal life that reflects her steadfast commitment and care for young people. We wish her all the best in this new role and offer our utmost appreciation for her 28 years of service to WPGA.

Regular School Attendance
Please do not excuse your child from advisory or extend vacations during the school year. Our enriched cocurricular program provides many opportunities for students to grow outside specific classes but also leads to significant absences. Further absences due to appointments or vacations should be avoided. When students are not in class, they quickly fall behind and are unable to contribute to the life of our school.

Staying Informed
The WolfNet calendar and the Howl are valuable resources for staying informed of school events. You may also find our yearly block order schedule a helpful resource. As we navigate the year together, remember that your child's teachers, whose contact information can be found in WolfNet, are your first point of contact for any challenges in the classroom. If you have questions about operational matters or require further support, connect with our senior school leadership team.

Let’s Connect in Person
We look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks. Senior School Curriculum Night on September 18 will be an in-person event, with grade-level presentations, program information booths, and a mix and mingle for parents and faculty, and our Senior School Parent Coffee Morning on September 20 is an opportunity to casually get together on The Landing.

Kind regards,

Mr. Jason Parker
