Swim Team Surfs in Tofino

By Scarlett McKinley '26

This Thanksgiving weekend, the Wolves Varsity Swim Team traded lanes for waves as we headed to Tofino for an unforgettable surfing trip. Known for its stunning beaches and some of the best surf on the West Coast, Tofino gave us the perfect break from our usual routine in the pool. The trip wasn’t just about learning to surf: it was a chance to bond as a team and try something new.

When asked about the trip, Eric Miao '28 said, “I got to know a lot of the older kids through this trip, and we played a lot of pool.” After a quick lesson on the beach with Surf Sisters, we paddled out, ready to catch some waves. While some of us wiped out more than we surfed, the laughs and encouragement kept everyone going. Callum Johnson '28 shared, “It was fun and action-packed, filled with exciting surfing and delicious food.”

Overall, the Tofino trip was a huge success. It gave us a new challenge and brought us closer as a team— something we’ll carry with us back to the pool. Thanks so much to Mr. Read, Ms. Leblanc, Mr. Garinger and Mr. Johnston for organising and chaperoning us over this beautiful weekend. Wolves on 3: 1..2..3..WOLVES!
