WPGA Guidelines for Dogs on Campus

By Mr. Jonathan Pike, Director of Operations

Please see below the school's expectations and guidelines for WPGA families on bringing dogs to campus.

General Requirements
  1. Families are requested to consider the necessity for bringing their dog to campus and, whenever possible, should consider leaving the dog at home or in the car during drop-off and pick-up.
  2. If families do bring their dog to campus, the animal must be well-behaved, non-aggressive and well-socialized.
  3. Dogs must be on a leash (no longer than 6 feet) and under the owner’s control and supervision at all times.
  4. All dogs must be licensed and up to date on vaccinations.
Designated Areas
  • Dogs are not permitted in school buildings, on the Junior and Senior Landings, or on the playgrounds, including the north playground.
  • Dogs are to be at least 15 meters away from any school entrance.
  • Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs immediately.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all students, staff and families.

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
