  • When can I apply?

We accept applications one year in advance. Applications for the 2024-2025 school year were available in September 2024 (applications are now closed). In September 2025, we will accept applications for the 2026-2027 school year.
  • Do you prioritize sibling applications?

Although we make every effort to prioritize enrolment for siblings of current students, particularly those who are applying for high-intake years, siblings must follow regular admission processes and are not automatically guaranteed a space. All candidates must meet admission requirements to ensure the school is able to provide a learning environment that is academically and socially supportive to their needs and goals.
  • What are the key assessment dates?

All in-house designed assessments and group activities will be conducted in person. Due to the important nature of these group observations, virtual assessments will not be available. In the event of illness on the scheduled assessment day, an alternate in-person assessment will be considered. View the assessment dates below to assist with your planning.

  • What if my child cannot attend their assessment?

Assessment dates are posted the first week of September to provide families with sufficient notice to make arrangements for the assessment day. However, if your child falls ill on the assessment day, contact the Enrolment Office to arrange an alternate assessment date.
  • Will virtual assessments be available for in-house designed assessments and group activities?

All in-house designed assessments and group activities will be conducted in person. Due to the important nature of these group observations, virtual assessments will not be available.

JK, K, G1: All candidates will be invited to an assessment session consisting of individual and group activities as well as a short one-on-one readiness assessment.

G2-7: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an in-person assessment session.

G8-12: All candidates are required to write the SSAT and complete the Character Skills Snapshot. We encourage you to book your SSAT test as soon as possible. Please share your score by December 18. The last test date available to meet this deadline is December 7, 2024. You will need to grant WPGA the ability to receive your results (the school code is 8104). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an in-person group activity session.

    Interview Process
After the assessment and/or group activity, select candidates for all grades will be invited to an interview. The purpose of the interview is for us to get to know each other and to provide an opportunity for families to ask any questions.
  • What does the shortlisting process entail?

Given the high number of applicants, we conduct a shortlisting process. This is not a reflection of a child's capabilities or a family’s potential for being part of the WPGA community. Throughout the process we consider how each family aligns with our values, the current cohort of students, and how we can best support the applicant with their learning.
  • Do you accept international students?

We welcome applications from international families. For families relocating to the Vancouver area, we have specific residency requirements. At least one parent must meet the criteria below; if only one parent is relocating, the parent with whom the child will live with must meet the following criteria:

    1) Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident: The parent must be a Canadian citizen or hold permanent residency status in Canada.

    OR

    2) Valid Work Permit or Official Duties: Alternatively, the parent must hold a valid work permit OR be in Canada for official duties that allow them to reside in the country.

For families in the process of securing permanent residency or a work permit, please ensure these documents are finalized and in place in the event an offer is made. When a candidate is being considered for enrolment, your permanent residency or work permit must be valid and current at the time the offer is extended.

If enrolled, tuition fees are an additional $4,500 CAD. A detailed list of fees and tuition can be found here

  • How competitive is it to enrol in West Point Grey Academy?

We are pleased that so many families feel that WPGA would be a good match for their family. This means that we receive far more applications each year than there are spaces available. Also, some grades are not entry years, which limits our opportunity to enrol students, and we prioritize enrolment for siblings of current students. Although there are limited spaces, we do hope families who would like to join our WPGA community submit an application for consideration.

For all families who apply to WPGA, we are committed to an admission process that is welcoming, fair and inclusive. We respect your interest in our school and are committed to ensuring your experience with WPGA is positive and supportive. We abide by the NAIS Principles of Good Practice and the AISAP Ethical Behavior and Best Practices for Admission Professionals.

  • Does the school provide a bus service?

WPGA has a morning bus service, contingent on ridership, for an additional fee. The bus currently picks up students at five locations on the west side (Yaletown, Douglas Park, Kerrisdale, Musqueum Golf Academy, Dunbar); locations are subject to change each year. The bus arrives at the school gym at 8:05am.
  • I'd like to make a donation to WPGA. Can I give to the school during the application/enrolment process?

Our Enrolment Office has a no-gifts policy. We respect the gesture of appreciation; however, we do not accept donations/gifts of any kind from prospective families.
  • Does the school accept students for short-term visits?

No, we do not accept students for short-term visits.
  • Does the school have nurses on site?

We have a nursing team whose office is open to all students during the school day. Our nurses also oversee regular childhood vaccinations and teach sexual health courses with our counselling team.

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
