Student Wellbeing

SUPPORTING EVERY STUDENT’S WELLBEING

At WPGA, supporting children in becoming their best selves by nurturing their academic, social-emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing is our priority. From day one, our whole-child belief has shaped our educational philosophy, with a comprehensive character development program that fosters empathy, compassion and responsibility—to ourselves and others.

Our personal counsellors equip students with essential tools to face life’s challenges, strengthen resilience, and regulate emotions, while our learning support specialists develop each student's capacity and confidence to realize their academic potential.

Physical wellbeing is equally valued, with daily physical education from junior kindergarten. We encourage movement, outdoor exploration, and lifelong healthy habits, including lessons on nutrition and body health, to ensure a balanced, holistic approach to wellbeing.

PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM

Student wellness is supported through our Physical and Health Education (PHE) program, which promotes physical literacy and healthy living habits. Starting in junior kindergarten, students engage in fun, noncompetitive activities that develop motor skills, fitness, strength, and a love for active play. PHE teachers, with our nurses and counsellors, also cover key topics such as nutrition, body awareness, sexual health, personal boundaries, and positive relationships.

In the Senior School, our PHE teachers regularly invite speakers to present on a range of topics relevant to adolescence, including party safety, substance awareness, stress management, and sleep hygiene.

Our comprehensive PHE program empowers students to lead balanced, healthy lives while prioritizing their overall wellbeing.

Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
