Student Enrichment

Athletics

At WPGA, we believe that success is a personal best, and our athletics program reflects this mindset. Athletics are integral to our students' development, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and personal growth.

JUNIOR SCHOOL

The junior school athletics program emphasizes foundational movement skills, participation, and school spirit. Starting in grade 3, students compete in the Independent Schools Elementary Association (ISEA) league; our cross country, swim, and track and field teams are among the largest in the province. Our U13 teams (basketball, soccer, girls volleyball) also compete in the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) league, with recent trips to Calgary, Ottawa and Winnipeg.

SENIOR SCHOOL

In the Senior School, students have the opportunity to try out for numerous teams at various levels, including soccer, cross-country, ski and snowboard, basketball, golf, tennis, track and field, and ultimate. Our facilities feature a gymnasium, pool, fitness centre, outdoor tennis courts, multi-sport fields, and a 1.5 km outdoor running/walking trail. Through a culture of coaching and fair play, WPGA athletics is focused on empowering students to achieve their personal goals.

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
