Catalyst Projects 2025

Catalyst Projects 2025

A catalyst is an agent of change—something that sparks transformation, accelerates progress, and amplifies impact. While we continue to partner with the MST in planning for our long-term future on the Jericho Lands, we also focus on revitalizing our current campus benefiting thousands of Grey Wolves for the next 10+ years.

Each summer we endeavour to complete several Catalyst Projects: bold, forward-thinking renovations that elevate our facilities and immediately enhance student experiences for the decade ahead. More than simple upgrades, these projects are investments in excellence, ensuring that our school remains a place where students thrive academically, athletically, and artistically. This year, thanks to your generosity, and the steadfast support of our WPGA community, we are delighted to announce seven exciting Catalyst Projects.

Be Part of the Catalyst Projects
The 2025 Catyalyst Projects will require $6 million in funding to be secured and completed in time for the start of the 2025-2026 school year. We are extremely grateful to the lead donors who have already made significant financial commitments to ensure that this vision becomes a reality for our students and the wider school community. However, we we haven’t reached our goal yet!

If you are inspired to be a difference-maker as a leadership donor to our Catalyst Projects or want to learn more about our forward-thinking vision, please contact Stephen Anthony, Head of School, or Lydia Vandenberg, Director of Advancement.

Elevating Athletics

Multisport Field
Initially planned for completion a decade ago, the time for this project is now! Our existing grass soccer field  will be renovated into a state-of-the art artificial turf sports field. The outcome will provide a year-round, all-weather playing surface that extends program opportunities for all students, our athletes, and the broader school community. This project will also reduce our environmental footprint through improved water drainage and zero mowing, watering, fertilization, or pesticide use.
Track
With the goal of maximizing track and field program opportunities within the spatial constraints of the campus, this initiative converts the existing, non-standard, granular track to an enhanced 4-lane 200m rubberized track facility, with a 4-lane 80m sprint straightway, two long jump/ triple jump pits, a dedicated high jump area, and natural turf in-field.

Empowering the Arts

Our theatre room will undergo a dramatic transformation.  By revitalizing this acting space, creativity can further flourish, talents can shine, and future stars can take the stage with confidence.

Expanding Boundaries

A brand-new climbing wall will rise within the stage area in our main gym along with a traverse wall in our mini gym for our youngest climbing cubs, challenging students to push past their limits, build resilience, and conquer new heights—both physically and mentally.

Enhancing Our Campus

Two new buses will replace two of our aging shuttle buses, renovated student bathroom spaces will provide comfort and convenience, and upgraded furniture will ensure our students have a learning environment that meets their needs today and for years to come.
These projects represent an upgrade in our existing facilities and also reaffirm our dedication to fostering excellence in curricular programming and student wellbeing while promoting our vibrant Grey Wolves spirit.

We look forward to the enhanced experiences and opportunities these new facilities will provide for current and future generations at West Point Grey Academy.

The Time is Now. The Future is Bright!

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
