WPGA Model UN Team at VMUN

By Lindsay Haider, Head of Social Studies

From January 31-February 2, twenty two senior school students participated in VMUN at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. VMUN is North America’s largest high school Model United Nations conference. Even though a remarkable 1,500 students attended, with some committees exceeding 150 participants, our delegates’ voices echoed in the halls of the Hyatt’s ballrooms and boardrooms. Our senior “munners” took the House of Commons by storm and our juniors stepped up to the plate to pave the way for WPGA’s future MUN program.

A special shout-out goes to Aria Bender '28 for being the primary architect behind her committee’s first resolution, and kudos to Reyna Li '29 for stepping outside of her comfort zone and addressing her sizeable committee for the first time. We could not be prouder of our delegates’ collaborative efforts and for representing our school so well.

Next on WPGA’s MUN calendar is our trip to Brussels, Belgium over Spring Break to participate in Harvard Model Congress Europe. Stay tuned for an update on our adventures overseas!

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
